Last week the team here at Pensionlite took on our sixth charity challenge of the year – marking the half way point in our 12 months of charity.

We have been raising money for Hope House, Severn Hospice, Lingen Davies, Compton Care and Jayne Sargent Foundation in memory of former company founder Andy Hawthorne.

Three teams took to the River Severn in an attempt to canoe from Montford Bridge to Frankwell in the fastest time possible – the average time to complete it was around four hours, so we were looking to better it.

We were supported in our challenge by Hire a Canoe who were on hand to provide help and advice on getting down the river safely, as well as making sure we were kitted out correctly with life vests and paddles.

After a bit of tuition on how to row and steer (it’s harder than it looks) and to make sure that we were all in time, we cast off and headed down stream. We were treated to some amazing weather which made the journey even better – British summer does come out from time to time.

Each of the teams who took part was able to complete the route in less than three hours, we’d like to thank Hire a Canoe very for their help and support. If you fancy taking a trip down the Severn, then read Hire a Canoe’s reviews on Trip Advisor
